Ive got the same problem with this promotion as many other users seem to have (I have just finished reading this entire thread).

While I understand that this move was made to encourage people to use the shop, I do think its unfair in some ways. Like many people stated, many gamers (myself included) like buying the game with the box, as well as trial keys, printed manuals and the rest of the goodies that come along with it. Not only that, but it is usually cheaper to get it that way as opposed to the online store where you only recieve the game (w/o any extras) for more money.

Additionally, many users (again, myself included) have already used the store in the past for game purhchases, and simply don't have any other need for more addons. I currently own 3 accounts, 2 of which are prophecies only (were mule accounts before the storage patch and ability to buy additional slots), and a main account with all 3 campaigns, the GOTY upgrade, and 4 additional character slots (bringing the total to 12 on that account).

I see no reason in needing additional character slots for my account after spending almost $50 in the in-game store in addition to over $150 for the campaigns in stores, just to be able to have access to a new bonus area (that cannot be gained any other way).

I think that its in Anet's best interest to allow people who have already purchased through the store to play this new bonus content, as it currently cannot be accessed any other way. I will likely buy GW:EN, though I prefer to have the box and manual.

What about people who have already spent like $200+ on the various campaigns and extras for G.W.? We really have to pay even more for missions explaining certain parts of the game that should've previously been explained? Asking to spend that much more on just a few missions to those who have already spent a significant amount is kind of harsh.

Edit: Plus, I know this has been mentioned before but people like me have invested a large sum of time in this game resulting in the unlocking of many of the PvP aspects and already own the available items on G.W., which makes forcing us to buy something that we don't need a little bit of a turn off.

How about adding the Guild Wars soundtracks as other things that players could buy? This way players could still buy $30+ of merchandise from the store as well as getting a physical box for GW:EN.

I don't see ANet selling merchandise in the store. No "I <3 GW!" T-Shirts or "My other ride is a Dolyak" bumperstickers. Despite the revenue this would bring in, I remember reading somewhere that this isn't the style of business they want. Yes, people would buy this, dare I say it, crap, but it isn't necessary. I think GW hats and coffee cups would cheapen the game and make it too commercial. Granted, that leaves less for us to buy in the Online store, but I've come around to seeing that the mission pack is a simple ploy to get us to buy GW:EN from the in-game store. ANet will make more money by cutting out the middle man and will save money on packaging and shipping.

Something I would like to see is the opportunity to purchase some of the items found in the boxes, since there is less of an intent from ANet to sell via merchant stores using boxed versions of the game. By purchasing GW:EN from the in-game store, I lose my book and map. I would really like a map of GW:EN. I also really enjoy the art books and skill pins that came with the collectors editions. Maybe that's just me.

The better selection the store has the, more people will have the bonus mission pack and the more revenue it will bring in.

Can I qualify for the Bonus Mission Pack through purchases in the PlayNC Store?

Yes, you can. All purchases made through either the Guild Wars In-Game Store or the PlayNC Store from noon Pacific Time on July 5, 2007 through noon Pacific Time on October 31, 2007 are added together. Once you meet the required amount, the bonus missions will be yours and you'll get access once the missions go live in November.

So NOW they say that is possible. I needlessly spent more money in the GW Online Store paying in stupid British Pounds, when I could have been charged in US Dollars through the PlayNC store because I'm currently in the US and that store prices you according to IP. Unlike the retarded Online Store which groups Aussies into paying in British Pounds.

Do you really have to troll in a thread that no longer concerns you?
